It all started with a dream…
My creative journey began in middle school, where I was the resident comic dealer and book club organizer for my very own (never-published) mystery thriller. I wrote short stories, poems, book reviews, and structured arguments that earned me a loyal following of fellow students and teachers.
As a young adult, I channeled my passion for words into a blog about relationships, self-confidence, and overcoming mental illness. I poured my heart into those late-night writing sessions, typing furiously until my face hit the keyboard.
Fast forward to today and my creative pursuits have evolved into web design, photography, and coaching. In 2019 I became a certified life coach and in 2024, the marriage of coaching and design work gave birth to Chrisie Marketing & Design.
The road to Entreprenuership.
For years, I dabbled in web and graphic design. I created for myself, friends, and even small businesses, almost always for free. Part of me just wanted to be helpful, but honestly, I loved it. I’ve spent long hours geeking out on the computer. I even studied Computer Science in college for 2 years.
Still, for whatever reason, I never pursued this path. Instead, I spent years chasing side hustles, academic paths, even full-on careers. Nothing ever felt right.
In April 2024, I decided to quit an unfulfilling career so I could figure out what I truly wanted to do. At first, I got back into pet sitting. I designed and printed cards to pass around and published an online profile to attract local customers. Not only did my writing and designs work, they worked well.
Then it hit me: this is a skill so many people need to start or grow their business… and I’ve had it all along. I just never saw it as something that could make me money. So, I began to visualize what it would look like to turn this into a business. I kid you not—two weeks later, I landed my first web design job.
Within a few months, I was so booked I was nearly in over my head. That’s how fast my life shifted when I stopped trying to force what wasn’t working… and leaned into what was.

Let me tell you, becoming an entrepreneur isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s like holding up a mirror and seeing every single one of your strengths and flaws staring back at you. Your business becomes a reflection of who you are whether you mean it to or not: raw, beautiful, imperfect, and human. Sometimes it needs change, and that’s okay.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that you can try to do everything on your own, but it will never last. Building something meaningful requires more than one person—a network of people who you either collaborate with or who inspire, motivate, and keep you grounded. For me, that started with a romantic partner whose love and support gave me the stability I needed to take the leap.
But it doesn’t stop there. Whether it’s a mentor, a friend, a colleague, or a community, having the right people in your corner makes all the difference. They help you see possibilities when you’re stuck, catch you when you stumble, and remind you why you started when the road gets tough.
